OUR FOUNDATION
Newly formed in early 2020, The Power of One Foundation was conceived by Mackenzie Morris, lifetime Colorado resident, avid soccer player, coach, Director, and single mother to her little girl. Hearing and reading statistics about youth suicide and negative behavioral trends is scary for any parent, but when those negative numbers are dominated by adolescents coming from single-parent and low income homes, it’s terrifying. Youth sports, coaches, and a positive environment can make a significant difference in improving these negative mental health statistics, as well as create better humans, better opportunities, and a great deal of hope for young athletes.
Called to make a difference, Mackenzie wanted to use her story as a means to turn victim into victory, and began the Power of One Foundation. The foundation’s initial purpose is to raise money for life-changing scholarships, made available upon application, to the parents of young athletes who aren’t in the position to afford the dues and fees associated with youth soccer.
The Power of One Foundation immediately caught the attention of soccer players, coaches and parents nationwide. With the overwhelming support of our growing number of followers, we are raising money for scholarships. And although we always encourage those people who are in the position to giveback with donations that go towards these scholarships, The Power of One Foundation is actively looking for long-term sponsors. This will allow the foundation to continue growing our resources and be able to offer several scholarships per season.
